A couple of weeks ago Ozanimate had the good fortune (and sense) to spend two days packed with comics, animation, music and games at the Sydney Opera House’s GRAPHIC Festival – all your favourite things arranged inside your favourite shell-inspired architectural icon.
Of particular interest at GRAPHIC was the various creative initiatives designed to launch new projects and collaborations. Gotye: An Animated Album Preview saw young up and coming directors commissioned to produce original animated content to accompany his sold-out performances and there was also an animated short competition with a prize of $20,000 which saw over 50 entries by both new and experienced filmmakers.
Festival organiser Ben Marshall was kind enough to share with us his thoughts as to what made the GRAPHIC festival such a success and Ozanimate was also lucky enough to score interviews with Greg Sharp and Ivan Dixon of Rubber House, illustrator Nathan Jurevicius of Scary Girl fame and his producer-director-industry heavyweight brother Luke Jurevicius.
