The five winners of the British Council’s Realise Your Dreams Awards were announced last night in Sydney. The winners included Melbourne animation studio- Rubber House, Motion graphics artist Patrick Claire (well known for his great work with ABC2’s Hungry Beast) as well as video artists Soda_Jerk. For a competition that spans all creative fields its really exciting to see so many winners involved in filmmaking and motion.
Some work from the very talented winners.
The winners all pick up a trip to the UK to receive industry mentoring from leaders in their field. They also get a fat wad of cash to spend ($8000) while they are there. This is a really great initiative designed to incubate emerging talent as well as encouraging young professionals to strive for excellence. The realist in me is sure that its also designed to spirit away our best and brightest creatives to the mother country, but until the British Council finds a way to move their capital closer to the tropics its unlikely this part of plot will be achieved in the long term. A win win for the colony old chap. Check out the other winners on the RYD website!
