A new range of eco-conscious cars to lead the world’s fight against climate change has recently been launched by Honda and what better way to promote this than by sponsoring an environmental news update on Australian Network 10. Draftfcb Melbourne set about the task of producing a fleet of snappy spots to help share the innovative thinking Honda uses to address environmental issues, resulting in those short animations using hybrid animation techniques.

“The Honda FCX is an evolution in car design that breaks the rules. So we wanted to re-enforce this in the visual approach. We did this by using a hybrid mix of animation techniques” says XYZ Director Tim Kentley. “Every frame is a novel mix of hand drawn, stop motion and photo-realistic CG elements.”

The campaign is now airing nationally around Australia.
